On the recommendation of Leah, the lady who did the make-up for Court's wedding, I went out this weekend and bout some mineral make-up. Specifically, I bought Bare Escentuals... the get started pack in light to fairly light (because there isn't a Casper white shade).
Over all I really like it. It doesn't feel like I am wearing make-up at all. I think it does a very nice job blending covering redness (Seriously, acne at 28? That is so uncool t-zone.). I kind of want to go out and get the other collections (beyond the basics and get started eyes). The starter pack I got had two "foundations", two "all over face colors", the mineral veil, three brushes and a DVD to show you how to use them all (although I am still unclear about one of the brushes... it seems superfluous to me.), this was all for the bargain price of $63 at Ulta.
The really nice part of the make-up is that a) it is quick b) I feel like I am using less make-up and not clogging up my pores and c) it is subtle... here are some pictures:
Washed face, after toner (and a little eyebrow plucking... not that you can tell since I apparently can't take a clear picture to save my life):
Here is me with the foundations on (I use one to cover red and the other all over):
Finally, with warmth, glee and the mineral veil on (no mascara or lipstick.... because I am lazy):
PS - Please ignore the hair... I need to buy a diffuser I think and/or buy some new pomeade.

Told ya that hair would be hard! Anyway I'm trying that stuff next time I come over.
i swear by bare minerals. LOVE the stuff. it's so light, easy to apply, and it looks great. :)
(found you in the nablopomo randomiser. nice to meet you!)
i also found in you in the randomizer =) i have always wanted to try that makeup! now maybe i will go out and finally do it. and i'm 23 with all sorts of adolescent-style face blemishes still happening...i have no idea when it will finally quit!
ooh I love BareMinerals--I bought the kit at ulta too. but i dont use the glee and the warmth at the same time--i didn't know you could! the thicker brush is for fuller coverage (sayeth the dvd). i like how fast it is too. yay.
oh! i started using it this summer when my liquid foundation just couldn't hack the dc summer. i got my kit from sephora though because i agonized over the right shades. sephora had more color combinations and came with the kabuki brush ($28 value) whereas the ulta kit comes with the handy buki ($20 value) which didn't seem like it'd be able to handle the challenge.
the sephora kit doesn't come with the glee though but frankly, adding redness to my already blemished face just sounds like poor-decision making! instead, you get the barevitamins.
cara has the beyond the basics kit and she loves it so you should talk to her about it. i just gave her one of my foundations (cause i have medium and medium beige and i really only ever use the medium beige and the medium, surprisingly, works on her!)
ok, and that's my two cents!
I think your hair looks cute! CFG is just a short hair hater!! But if you need new pomade, I highly recommend Kerastase Nutri-Sculpt. It's AMAZING.
Also, LOVE the photos, but don't you know that your best smile is to be reserved for the AFTER photo?? :) I can't actually tell that you have makeup on, because of the lighting/my color blindness, but I can see smiles (obviously).
But Angela, the first smile is a fake smile! Can't you tell? I feel like I need to try this stuff, but I just bought a new thing of my Clinique, so I will just use yours until we pay off the mortgage. Right?
Also, P.S. Some people say it takes a long time to apply and others say it's fast. So - faster than regular foundation? And do you use it all over your face or just where you need some coverage?
